Whether offering apprenticeship schemes, work based learning, NVQ’s or A ‘level’s, having an effective student management system in place is vital to success.
Perspective’s Collaborative Learning Manager product is a cutting-edge student management system which presents learning providers with the ability to monitor learner attendance and progression, easily resolve potential issues and even download qualification frameworks, all from a single online platform.
CLM is a proven student management system and to date has been deployed in over 60 local authorities around the country, making it responsible for the successful management of millions of learners.
CLM delivers greater control to the managers of vocational and other distributed learning schemes via an easy to use tracking system which measures a student’s movements both at school and whilst taking part in off-site learning.
Schools can immediately use the system through a simple one-view screen to identify any ‘red flag’ problem areas requiring action, such as unexplained absences, which can be dealt with immediately. These are then marked as authorised or unauthorised absences. Schools can also add register notes to future registers informing providers of any known forthcoming absences, this is then picked up when the provider is completing the register.
A fully archived audit trail is automatically created when any changes are made to the register, ensuring compliance for legal purposes.
CLM can be integrated with the Systems Interoperability Framework (SIF) Association, a non-profit membership organisation that makes it possible for systems to communicate and share data, without any additional programming or duplicated data entry. This ensures that whenever CLM is accessed, all records are completely up to date and accurate.
In addition to using SIF to update the statutory am and pm attendance record in school Management Information System registers from the CLM attendance registers, the CLM SIF agent can submit information regarding attendance at individual lessons.
The lesson register structures within CLM are very flexible so that they can be set up to mirror the agreed lessons delivered by the schools’ partner providers.
Often these are am and pm sessions, but in those circumstances where more granularity of attendance updates are required, such as shared 6th form lessons, the CLM SIF Agent Lesson Update facility enables the structures within CLM to be mapped to those at a Learner’s Home School.
The mapping is a simple routine that only needs to be performed once and is then stored within the CLM agent to be automatically sent to the School MIS once the register is completed within CLM.
CLM quickly flags up issues such as unauthorised absences or a swift decline in their progress, allowing learners to be supported before any serious and potentially damaging problems arise.
Using CLM, tutors and teachers can alert their colleagues within the home school of any issues that need attention, and importantly to advise not only of negative aspects but also positive learner contributions.
By entering a simple code, fully structured QCF qualifications are uploaded to CLM, to provide a full reporting structure for each learner.
Real-time data can be updated and accessed at any time enabling attendance statistics, learner statistics and learning management reports to be produced quickly and easily at the touch of a button.
Easy to use and quick to integrate with existing management information systems, CLM tracks every student as they progress through a qualification, specifically monitoring attendance and progress. Marks are easily entered for aptitude and effort as well as formal grades, creating a detailed and complete picture of student development throughout a qualification.
